Alim Beisembayev performs at Royal College of Music concert

We welcome conductor Sir Antonio Pappano back to the RCM to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the birth of Vaughan Williams, with a performance of his gentle and reflective Symphony no 5.

Vaughan Williams travelled to France to study orchestration with Ravel, and they remained friends for long after. RCM student Alim Beisembayev, winner of the 2021 Leeds International Piano Competition, performs Ravel’s jazzy and infectious Piano Concerto in G major. The programme is completed by Bax’s descriptive tone poem, Tintagel, and Elizabeth Maconchy’s beautiful Nocturne.

See the autograph manuscript of Vaughan Williams’s Fifth Symphony on display in the Amaryllis Fleming Concert Hall.

This concert is supported by Her Serene Highness Princess Heidi von Hohenzollern
